Dra. Jarise Gouvêia Santos

Graduated at Universidade Federal do Paraná in 1996; next she became resident physician in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Candido Fontoura, city of São Paulo; then resident physician in neurology at Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças, in Curitiba. Dr. Jarise became a neurologist and pediatrician at the DIMPNA – Unidade de Neurologia Clínica in 1999, with special interests in pediatric neurology, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She currently holds consulting appointments at Hospital Santa Cruz and Paraná Clínicas, as well as at the city council of Araucária, in the metropolitan area of Curitiba. She lectures on neuropsychiatric subjects in courses kept by Unidade de Neurologia Clínica.

DR ALEXANDRO TAMANINI

Graduated as an MD at Universidade Federal do Paraná in 1998; next he became resident physician in neurology at Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças, in Curitiba, then a neurologist at the DIMPNA – Unidade de Neurologia Clínica in 2001, with special interests in intensive care. He currently holds consulting appointments at Hospital Santa Cruz and Hospital Vita, in Curitiba. He lectures on neuropsychiatric subjects in courses kept by Unidade de Neurologia Clínica.

Dra. Carolina Barreto Bertinato

Graduated as an MD at Pontifícia Universidade  Católica do Paraná in 2004; next she acquired specializations in Laboural Medicine, Bioethics and Acupuncture, the latter at CESAC – Centro de Estudos de Acupuntura do Paraná, where she received TEAC – Specialist in Acupuncture, by the Medical Collegiate of Acupuncture of Associação Médica Brasileira. She currently holds a consulting appointment as a practitioner acupuncturist at Centro de Especialidades Médicas da Prefeitura Municipal de Curitiba Dr. Caroline became an Acupuncturist at DIMPNA – Unidade de Neurologia Clínica, in 2010, with special interests in Pain and relaxation.

Veronicka Seegmueller

She graduated in Psychology at Universidade Evangélica do Paraná and in Pedagogy at Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná. She acquired specializations in Educational Psychology Assessment and Cognitive Rehabilitation (PEI – Instrumental Enrichment Program Levels I, II and III) and Mediation (Canada Research Institute, Jerusalem, Israel) and Center for Cognitive and Social Development in Curitiba. Her professional emphasis has been in health psychology, with an emphasis in very sick people in intensive care units. She has coordinated groups of people with problems of smoking and sexual violence. She has a special interest in neuropsychological evaluation and rehabilitation. She joined Dimpna in 2009.

Eliane Ferraz

Psychologist – CRP 1535/08
Graduated at Pontificia Universidade Católica in 1983. Initially under Freudian influence, she diverted into systemic family therapy. A pioneer in hospital based psychology, she was responsible for neuropsychological evaluations at Unidade de Neurologia Clínica between 1989 and 2005. She has special interests and post-graduate education and practice in stress management, legal, forensic and judiciary psychology; traditionally, she has been involved with the Society of Psychosomatic Medicine of Paraná.

Cláudia Regina Scavazza

Physiotherapist – CREFITO 32919
Graduated at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná in 1999 and specialized in physical therapy in Neurology at the same university in 2001. She undertook a Shiatsu course for professionals of physical therapy and a post-graduation in Acunpunture. She has beena lecturer of courses in neuropsychiatry at Unidade de Neurologia Clínica. Her main interests since joining Dimpna in 2002 have been the physical therapy of headache and labiryntine disorders, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Recently, at Dimpna, she has come into very close contact with the neurological indications of botulinum toxin, including spasticity and muscle contraction-related neurological syndromes.

Jessiane Koch

Graduated by Faculdade Evangélica do Paraná in 2007, with a post-graduate specialization in Acupuncture, Flexibility and Isostretch by iBrate and CBES (2008). She practices at the intensive care unit of Hospital Evangélico. Her main interests since joining Dimpna in 2009 have been the physical therapy of disorders of the vertebral column, including headache, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Recently, at Dimpna, she has come into very close contact with the neurological indications of botulinum toxin, including spasticity and muscle contraction-related neurological syndromes.

Dr. Paulo Rogério Mudrovitsch de Bittencourt

Born in 1953, is a Benemerit Citizen of the State of Paraná (Law of 2008). He went to Colégios Bom Jesus e Santa Maria, in Curitiba in the 1960s, and graduated as a medical doctor at Universidade Federal do Paraná in 1976. Then came 5 years as a Clinical Researcher, Registrar and Senior House Officer in Internal Medicine and Neurology, Clinical Pharmacology and Epileptology at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, UK, where he acquired a PhD in Neurology (Institute of Neurology, University of London, 1981, recognized by University of São Paulo in 1982). He acquired, by public concourse, the title of Professor Titular of Internal Medicine, in the Specialty of Diseases of the Nervous System, at Universidade Federal do Paraná, in 1991.

He was Head of Neurology (1982-2002) at Hospital N. Sra. das Graças, in Curitiba, where he also founded and headed the Services of Neurophysiology (1987-2001); the Epilepsy Surgery Program (1993-2001); the Sleep Disorders Program (1995-2001). Since 1987 he has been the Director of Unidade de Neurologia Clínica Ltda. Presently, he is a Consultant Neurologist at Hospitals Nossa Senhora das Graças (since 1982), Santa Cruz (since 1982) and Vita (since 1997) in Curitiba.

Paulo Rogério Mudrovitsch de Bittencourt is registered in the Regional Medical Councils of Paraná (#5259) e Santa Catarina (#7499). The registrations were renewed in 2008, and include the titles of Specialist in Neurology (1982), Child Neurology (1983); Electroencephalography (1998) and Clinical Neurophysiology (1998). He is a member of the following professional organizations, all of which require professional certification: Sociedade Paranaense de Ciências Neurológicas (Associação Médica do Paraná);  Membro Titular of Sociedade Brasileira de Neurofisiologia Clínica; Membro Titular of Academia Brasileira de Neurologia; Corresponding Fellow of American Academy of Neurology; Member (licensed) of the European Neurological Society.

He is currently an active member of the Subcommittee on Higher Cortical Functions of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (2006-); of the Scientific Department of Neuroimmunology of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology (2008-); of the Epilepsy and of the Neural Repair and Rehabilitation Sections of the American Academy of Neurology  (1996- and 2010-).

Throughout the years, Paulo Rogério Mudrovitsch de Bittencourt has been intensively involved with patient-oriented organizations, more especially in the field of epilepsy, culminating in the post of 1st Vice-president of the International League Against Epilepsy ( 1993-1997), besides occupying a number of other high-level executive positions in the ILAE and International Bureau for Epilepsy, receiving the Ambassador Award of these organizations for extensive international engagements during more than 25 years. He occupied executive positions in international meetings of the World Federation of Neurology and International EEG and Clinical Neurophysiology Society. He founded the 1st Brazilian multiple sclerosis patient society, and is a member of the medical council of the Brazilian MS Society. He has founded and served on ethics and bioethics committees locally in Curitiba, including the 1st private bioethics committee in Brasil.

Paulo Rogério Mudrovitsch de Bittencourt has published more than 150 scientific papers, book chapters and, made over 300 scientific presentations in regional, national and in international congresses in Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. He was a keynote speaker in most world congresses of Neurology and Epilepsy between 1981 and 2008. He has been a Visiting Professor in universities in the England, Wales, Ohio, California, New York, Colombia and Zambia. In a more recent career as a writer for the general public, he has published 8 books, most on neurology, psychiatry, travelling, painting and rock and roll. He has written regular newspapers columns, and writes regularly for Iátrico, the journal of the Regional Medical Council of the State of Paraná. His personal biography is published annually in many of publications, including Marquis’ Who´s Who in the World, in Medicine, and in Science and Engineering, since 1995.
