Hosted Call Accounting Managed Services
Traditional call accounting systems are generally housed locally within an office or centralized within a group of offices. The data from a key system, PBX, iPBX or VoIP communication servers and gateways is collected and massaged by the call accounting software . The system usually attaches additional information such as subscriber name and transaction cost to the activity record (or more commonly call detail record (CDR)). More recent iPBX vendors provide access to information through online databases for extraction by external applications. The voice related data collected usually includes calling party, date, time, duration, destination party and authorization or account code.
Unlike the typical residential telephone invoice which is allocated to one individual or family, business telephone statements cannot easily be accounted. Telephone invoices normally do not include specific details such as originating extension to identify individual calls. Instead they summarize overall equipment cost, leased lines and activity detail. In order for a business to accurately disburse the expenses to users, groups or departments, they must reconcile the invoices with an internal call accounting package or outsource task to a hosted call accounting provider (www.hostedcallaccounting.com).
